چکیده
Human activity pollution has been shown to harm the environment, ecology, and health impacts. The polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) produced by industries such as tannery, distillery, pulp paper, oil refineries are a major source of contaminant. PAHs found all across world, owing long-term human sources. PAHs' physico-chemical features, hydrophobicity electrochemical stability, contribute their environmental persistence carcinogenic effects. Microbial biodegradation of polyaromatic hydrocarbons.
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are widespread in various ecosystems and are pollutants of great concern due to their potential toxicity, mutagenicity and carcinogenicity. Because of their hydrophobic nature, most PAHs bind to particulates in soil and sediments, rendering them less available for biological uptake. Microbial degradation represents the major mechanism responsible for the ...
متن کاملBioremediation of polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) using rhizosphere technology
The remediation of polluted sites has become a priority for society because of increase in quality of life standards and the awareness of environmental issues. Over the past few decades there has been avid interest in developing in situ strategies for remediation of environmental contaminants, because of the high economic cost of physicochemical strategies, the biological tools for remediation ...
متن کاملBiodegrader metabolic expansion during polyaromatic hydrocarbons rhizoremediation.
Root-microbe interactions are considered to be the primary process of polyaromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) phytoremediation, since bacterial degradation has been shown to be the dominant pathway for environmental PAH dissipation. However, the precise mechanisms driving PAH rhizostimulation symbiosis remain largely unresolved. In this study, we assessed PAH degrading bacterial abundance in contaminate...
متن کاملEnzymatic bioremediation of polyaromatic hydrocarbons by fungal consortia enriched from petroleum contaminated soil and oil seeds.
The present study focuses on fungal strains capable of secreting extracellular enzymes by utilizing hydrocarbons present in the contaminated soil. Fungal strains were enriched from petroleum hydrocarbons contaminated soil samples collected from Chennai city, India. The potential fungi were isolated and screened for their enzyme secretion such as lipase, laccase, peroxidase and protease and also...
متن کاملQuantum chemical characterization of dimeric polyaromatic hydrocarbons
Polyaromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) has been considered to be an important interstellar species for a relatively long time because of its possible linkage to lifeforms. Despite its importance, however, interactions of individual PAH molecules have not been well understood. In this study, characteristics of dimers of various PAHs are investigated using ab initio quantum chemical approach. It is found...
